SNK reveals new Fatal Fury/Garou game incoming

Following the Evo 2022 King of Fighters 15 finals SNK representatives took to the stage to reveal that a brand new Fatal Fury/Garou Mark of the Wolves game has been green lit.

It's been over 20 years since the first Garou Mark of the Wolves rolled out in 1999. You can check out the teaser below.

The teaser lasts for only about 30 seconds, and in that time we see a few views of a dark cityscape with some shadowy figures in the background. We finally arrive on a familiar face as Rock Howard, son of Geese Howard, protégé of Terry Bogard, and the main protagonist of the first Garou game, stands with his back toward us.

Fatal Fury and King of Fighters share a universe and have stood as something of parallel pillars in SNK's fighting game evolution over the years. It all started with a game called Fatal Fury in 1991, which saw some 10 additions in the form of sequels and major updates throughout the 1990's.

The King of Fighters series also kicked off in the 1990's with its first solo entry popping up in 1994. King of Fighters proved to be the more prominent series with consistent support, development, and new entries since its inception.

Fatal Fury would eventually see a title called Garou: Mark of the Wolves drop in 1999. Mark of the Wolves made a notable departure from the previously used two plane stages, and introduced new mechanics such as the "Tactical Offense Position" and Just Defend systems.

This would see the end of Fatal Fury development as SNK has produced only King of Fighters titles since, but we now know there are plans to change that.

There have actually been rumblings and evidences of SNK working on a second Garou title over the years, but nothing, of course, has come to fruition until now.

Though SNK hasn't given many details at all (such as a release window or list of platforms it will be featured on) we'll be eventually getting a second Garou entry. Check out the teaser here:

The snippet of a reveal does drop us a few interesting lines of text including "The City of Legend Still Breathes," "Hungry Wolves Back on the Prowl," and "A New Destiny Hidden In Darkness".

What do you think of this reveal that's been over two decades in the making? Feel free to share your hype, hopes, and any suppositions you think we'll be seeing whenever this exciting new Fatal Fury/Garou entry drops.
