Here's how Season 5 DLC characters have performed right after release in Street Fighter 5

Sure doesn't look like 'pay to win' is a problem right now

Adding new characters via DLC has become as common staple in fighting games as in other gaming genres, and very often said newcomers tend to be overpowered to incentivize players to purchase them. That's clearly not the case here in the fifth Season of Street Fighter 5.

We don't have Luke (the fifth and final Season 5 DLC fighter) quite yet, but we do have first month statistics for Dan, Rose, Akira, and Oro thus far thanks to Capcom's Shadaloo C.R.I. website. We can see how each of these four have performed across four various ranking categories to give us an idea of how hard the DLC of Season 5 has been hitting early on.

This data naturally isn't going to be all that representative of how powerful these characters are overall because those players who are brave enough to take them online surely haven't mastered them yet.

There is something to note about the fact that the rest of us don't know much how to defend against newcomers, but one would guess the advantage would still go to those who have muscle memory and know the ins and outs of their own characters.

We should also point out that these results are from very early as these characters were all released a few weeks into their respective months. Dan became available on February 22, Rose dropped on April 19, and Oro and Akira hit the roster on August 15. This means the first month sample is only one to two weeks' worth of play time.

All that in mind, it comes as little surprise that most of the Season 5 DLC is scraping the bottom of the barrel across the board. There are a few exceptions, however, as Akira and Rose both performed exceptionally well in the Rookie - Ultra Silver category.

Both Rose and Oro are fairly obviously on the more technical side, Dan is designed with intentional faults as a joke character, and Akira (who easily has the best average win rate of this bunch) is on the more relatively straightforward side.

Check out the chart we put together below and please share any and all observations you spot in the comments section. Would you like to see this done with Street Fighter 5's other four seasons of DLC characters? Let us know below.
