Street Fighter 5 could receive some new Resident Evil costumes for Halloween

We have to get Nemesis or Mr. X, right?

The worlds of Street Fighter and Resident Evil have technically been clashing now for over 20 years with Jill Valentine's inclusion on the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 roster, and if we're lucky, there could be more crossover potential lurking around the corner.

Capcom recently revealed a 25th anniversary for Resident Evil promotion just in time for Halloween promising a good chunk of announcements, and some new Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition DLC costumes are fairly high on that list for making an appearance.

Currently the company has plans for nine reveals in total lasting through October 29.

The two announcements that already took place haven't been very exciting, however, with the first simply being a Twitter giveaway for merchandise and an Oculus Quest 2 followed by a reminder that Resident Evil 4 VR is launching on Oct. 21.

We believe Street Fighter DLC could well be among those remaining seven for a few reasons, namely there's already precedent for the crossover in the game.

Back in 2018, Capcom released three RE costumes into SF5 with Wesker Urien, Ada Kolin and Jill Cammy.

That still leaves a ton of iconic characters and monsters on the table who would make great additions including Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Mr. X, Nemesis and maybe even Lady Dimitrescu.

The developers also had a habit of putting out special Halloween costumes year after year, which hasn't happened yet in Season 5 — although to be fair they didn't have any for 2020 either.

Rumors / leaks from a few years prior suggested that Capcom was planning on adding more Resident Evil content to the fighting game with data for Nemesis, William Birkin and Leon allegedly existing in the title or on its servers.

None of that came to fruition then, but with Resident Evil soaring to new highs since with remakes of RE2 and 3, the release of Village, and RE7 being the first in the legendary series to cross 10 million copies sold, it would certainly make sense they'd want to celebrate the success even more right now.

The one other aspect of the anniversary campaign that does give us pause though is that the page currently only exists on Capcom's Japanese website for Biohazard. The English social pages and sites for RE don't appear to have mentioned it at all yet.

That could mean most or all of these upcoming reveals are going to cater specifically to the Japanese audience, but Capcom certainly aren't against cold dropping costume announcements for SF5 like we just saw with Cyber Akuma.

It'll be interesting to see what all they have in store for Resident Evil fans over the coming weeks for sure.

All we can really do right now though is keep an eye out on the 21st, 22nd, 25th and 29th for more Biohazard action.
