Looks like we're not getting a new Guilty Gear Strive DLC character this month so when should we expect fighter #3?

Many players, including ourselves, believed that Guilty Gear Strive would be receiving its third DLC character at some point in October, but it's looking like that's not going to be the case after all.

Following not getting a trailer at Tokyo Game Show and this week's new Developer's Backyard post, those chances are appearing quite miniscule now, so when should we be keeping our eyes peeled for fighter number three's announcement and release date?

Arc System Works confirmed that the big update coming this Friday, October 15, will only include a new balance patch.

"Although this update will only adjust the game balance, the team is working hard on the next character at the moment, so please wait for the next announcement," wrote director Akira Katano.

If ArcSys was going to release a new fighter this month, there's no reason they wouldn't just delay the balance update a few more weeks to avoid the extra testing and compliance checks that cost both time and money.

All we know for certain is that the third DLC combatant will launch sometime before the end of 2021 though we can use Goldlewis, Jack-O and upcoming events to try and narrow down that window a good bit.

The secretary of absolute defense received his reveal trailer on July 21 and launched less than one week later on July 27.

Mere weeks after that, Jack-O's trailer dropped on August 15, and she released 12 days later on August 27.

So that's two characters released on the 27th of their given month, but the first was on a Tuesday and the other a Friday.

Using that timing, we now believe the most likely release window for Strive's last DLC character of the year will fall between November 22–26.

There's going to be a couple of events taking place between now and then which would be great opportunities to drop a trailer with ArcRevo 2021 starting up later this month.

The first EMEA ArcRevo qualifier is set to take place on October 31 while the second will be three weeks later on November 21.

We've already seen ArcSys reveal a character during a tournament with Jack-O at Evo Online 2021, so they definitely aren't opposed to using their events for announcements.

Considering Goldlewis launched less than one week after his reveal trailer, we'd probably put our money on that November qualifier being the best shot to see the next character.

If that doesn't come to pass, we may be looking at a late Christmas present from ArcSys in December.

Either way, we'll probably be waiting a good bit longer to see how Strive's roster will expand next.
