Something about a pen and a sword

The lovers and the poets will soon become the fighters as new indie fighting game "Write 'n' Fight" is slated to release next month. WnF (heh) allows players to choose from 15 of history's most famous writers and take them into hand to hand combat with one another.

While this seems to have been developed for laughs as much as fun, we'd by lying if we said our interests weren't piqued by the trailer. Read on to see the full roster, screen shots, some video footage, and a link to get the demo build of Write 'n' Fight.

The launch roster is set to include the likes of William Shakespeare, Charles Dickins, Ernest Hemingway, H.P. Lovecraft, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mark Twain, Leo Tolstoy, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, James Joyce, Cao Xueqin, Alexandre Dumas, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Erich Maria Remarque, and Alessandro Manzoni.

The game works as a fairly straightforward 2D fighter... at first. Every character can eventually summon their own special arena that's based on some of their most famous works, and here they become exceptionally more powerful.

You can take a look at the images as well as the trailer to get an idea of what you'll be getting into. At this point it looks like a ton of casual fun, especially for friends who are well read.
