Rumor: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's potential DLC character roster already datamined

Today is the big day for cartoon fans with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl officially hitting store shelves, and some players have apparently found a bit more in their package than they were expecting.

Dataminers have allegedly already been able to uncover a bunch of references within the game's code that likely points to which characters are on the horizon as future DLC for the platform fighter.

First posted onto 4Chan before finding their way to Reddit and Resetera, a number of placeholder announcer lines for Nick characters not currently in the game were discovered including the likes of Mr. Krabs, Squidward and Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants.

There's also Jimmy Neutron, Rugrats' Tommy Pickles, Avatar's Zuko, Vlad Plasimus from Danny Phantom and of course Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life.

Though these may seem pretty solid as to what the developers have planned, it's far from confirmation or a done deal at this point.

Thaddeus Crews, All-Star Brawl's community manager, took to Discord to address possible leaks and datamines.

"Brought up concerns of datamining & was told content would be removed," wrote Crews on the game's Discord server. "It wasn't removed... Voice lines in the project cover bases and are not be-all-end-all confirmations of what can and cannot happen."

It's certainly not uncommon for developers to include test data for characters during the planning phases when the final roster isn't solidified, so it would make sense if some or all of these Nicktoons never actually join the battle.

What is a bit different, however, are the datamined textures found in All-Star Brawl's files, which likely reveals who the two planned post launch additions are going to be.

Under the fitting name of 'cheese', dataminers uncovered artwork of Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles along with other reference data.

A stage titled 'orb dream' also appears to showcase the hungry, lazy cat Garfield, so he may soon be dishing out some lasagna too.

While these assets and textures are a good bit more convincing than the announcer lines, Shredder and Garfield are certainly not confirmed either, so we shouldn't go locking them in as the picks just yet.

As far as the dev team has said, no official work has begun yet on the DLC itself, and plans can change quite a bit during a project's life.

Whether these datamines end up becoming full fighters or not, we'll have to wait a bit longer to see what post launch DLC will look like for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
