Another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate patch is en route
Save them replays
Though we've got all the DLC characters we'll be getting in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, that doesn't mean developers are quite done touching the wildly successful game up.
If you boot up Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (and are connected to the internet, of course) you should get a message that a new 13.0.1 patch is en route. We haven't seen any messaging about this update anywhere else yet, but we do have an idea of what it'll do.
The last major update that brought Kingdom Hearts' Sora with it rolled out just a few weeks back in mid October. This was labeled as the 13.0.0 update, and the one before it happened all the way back in June as the 12.0.0 patch.
We've noticed a pattern when it comes to SSBU patches over the last few years, specifically that we're in for a collection of bug fixes when the third of the three digits changes.
Given how relatively soon it is since Sora dropped, we have to suspect that whatever Nintendo has coming down the pike is not all that massive. It's generally believed right now that Ultimate will recieve no more balance patches going forward, and we know that no more new DLC characters are coming either.
We will point out that this message comes along with a note that the coming patch will affect replays, which traditionally happens when the game's balance is changed. We also don't traditionally get these kinds of messages when the update only concerns bugs/the third digit, so this does look at least a bit peculiar.
It's probably best not to hold your breath for major alterations, but time will tell exactly what developers are working on with the 13.0.1 patch.
