Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has now achieved over 25.71 million sales worldwide
Back in June 2021, it was reported that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had achieved 24.77 million sales worldwide. As of September 2021, the Nintendo Switch platform brawler has managed to sell nearly another million units.
According to Nintendo, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has now reached over 25.71 million units sales worldwide. This means that Smash Ultimate is still the third best-selling title on the Nintendo Switch after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (38.74 million) and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (34.85).
The latest entry in the Super Smash Bros. series continues to also be the best-selling entry in the series. The very first title, Super Smash Bros. 64, reached 5.50 million sales since the game's release.
Super Smash Bros. Melee, a title released over 20 years ago and is still played competitively today, has since achieved 7.41 million sales. Though Super Smash Bros. Brawl was criticized from a competitive standpoint, it was actually a popular entry in the series as evidenced by its 13.32 million sales.
Meanwhile, Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U have reportedly achieved 9.63 million and 5.38 million sales respectively. This means that the combined sales total for Super Smash Bros. 4 is 15.01 million.
Altogether, the Super Smash Bros. series has collectively sold over 66.95 million units. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 25.71 million sales represents roughly 38.4% of the series' total sales.
It's worth mentioning that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC character, Kingdom Hearts' Sora, was released in the middle of October. Being that he was the overall winner of the Smash Ballot that was held over the course of Super Smash Bros. 4's lifespan, Sora's inclusion is sure to push even more units.
