Bandai Namco appears to be teasing some sort of Tekken-related announcement for this weekend

What is it? We can probably take an educated guess

Tekken 7's fourth season of content wrapped up almost two months ago with the release of Lidia Sobieska, which has left fans wondering what's next for the massive fighting game.

Bandai Namco appears to be gearing up to answer that question in some fashion, as they've been teasing a Tekken-related announcement in a series of tweets that points to a reveal coming this weekend.

Starting on Wednesday, May 19, Bandai Namco's eSports account began posting short clips with the number "3".

This led some fans to speculate that something like Tekken Tag Tournament 3 may be en route, but it just looks to be a countdown considering they posted another yesterday with the number two.

The most likely outcome of said countdown is that the publisher is planning to reveal the next season of the Tekken World Tour, especially since all of the clips were from previous tournament events.

Judging by the countdown of days, Bandai Namco will probably be making the announcement tomorrow, May 22, evening.

The Tekken World Tour began in 2017 where it quickly became the second-largest fighting game pro circuit behind the Capcom Pro Tour that has returned every year since.

Last year, the regular season of the TWT had to be canceled due to the global coronavirus pandemic, which was replaced by online regional events spread throughout 2020.

Given that the clips pretty much all showcase offline tournaments, it'll be interesting to see if Bandai Namco is planning to hold any in-person majors this year or maybe have one only for their finals like Capcom is planning.

We don't yet know if Tekken 7 Season 4 will end up being the final version of the title, which has sold over 7 million copies since 2017, but it's a real possibility considering the last Season Pass was the smallest with only two new characters.

Katsuhiro Harada's team is surely cooking up something for their next fighting game though when we'll actually learn about it remains up in the air being juggled by Kazuya.

In other Tekken-related news, Humble Bundle is running a Best of Bandai Namco Bundle which includes Tekken 7 as well as other titles like Tales of Zestiria and Code Vein for quite the cheap pick up.
