BST|Daigo Umehara shared with his Twitter followers that he'd experienced COVID-19 symptoms and tested positive for the virus during the first week of May, but has since gone from self-quarantining at home to being hospitalized.

With Umehara in the hospital, fellow professional fighting gamer and friend Keita "BST|Fuudo" Ai took to his own Twitter to share the developments.

Ryan "Fubarduck" Harvey translated the messaging from Fuudo into English:

Neither Fuudo nor Daigo have tweeted any updates since May 12, which may bode well given that the last of the messaging noted that the latter was "already feeling better."

One of the five Japanese "fighting game gods," Daigo "The Beast" Umehara is the most celebrated competitive fighting game player on the planet and has fans across the entire globe. He is most widely known for being the man behind the stick of EVO Moment 37, but has a long list of professional accomplishments that trail behind it, including multiple EVO wins.

We here at EventHubs wish Mr. Umehara a swift recovery from his current ailments so he can get back to impressing, influencing, and inspiring fighting game fans in the powerfully unique way only he's been able to achieve.
