'V-Shift killed command grab characters and all my characters' - Xian and FChamp put together their Street Fighter 5 Season 5 tier list

Just how shaken up have things gotten in Street Fighter 5? Now that we've had some time to start seeing and feeling the rather large changes implemented in February's update, players from around the community are beginning to come forward with early thoughts and tier lists.

Filipino Champ has teamed up with RZR|Xian to navigate through SF5's entire 41-character roster in an effort to determine the overall order from strongest to weakest.

The largest single change in SF5's meta has to come from the new V-Shift mechanic, which offers players a new way of escaping pressure when foes are threatening from up in their face. Shifting will clearly help certain styles and game plans more than others, and Xian drops a bit of an opinion on the mechanic fairly early on in the discussion.

"V-Shift, to be honest, really just killed command grab characters," he starts. "And it killed all my characters. I play V-Trigger 2 Seth and V-Skill 2 Ibuki. It killed every single set up of mine." he laments.

They also get into other intriguing snippets, such as how the meta of V-Shift changes when you're in the corner, and how characters who can punish the maneuver after using a meaty throw have a new advantage over those who cannot. The bulk of the talk does surround how individual characters fare in the new landscape, and while not every avatar gets the same amount of detail, we do get to hear a bit about most everyone.
