Terry Bogard's iconic 'Are you okay?' line has a surprisingly simple yet sweet origin story involving an amusement park ride

Sounds like Oda might have gotten hit with a real Power Geyser

Terry Bogard remains one of the most endearing and quotable fighting game characters in the entire genre for his own unique interpretation of the English language, and fans wouldn't change that for a second.

One of the Wild Wolf's most iconic lines across his many appearances for the past two decades, including his most recent in King of Fighters 15, is the call out of his Buster Wolf with 'Are you okay?' which has a surprising origin story that's cute, comical and sincere all at once.

Content Creator Woolie Versus recently shared a few pages from an artbook(s) for Garou: Mark of the Wolves where SNK's Yasuyuki Oda recalled his experience that led to Terry checking up on everyone he punches.

Oda, who worked as a planner for Garou, says he was visiting an amusement park in Los Angeles, California around 1998 where he ended up a bit waterlogged on one of the rides.

Upon exiting what I assume was probably Splash Mountain at Disneyland, a child reportedly asked the wet fighting game developer if he was in fact 'okay.'

The future battle designer of Street Fighter 4 and director of King of Fighters 14 was so amused with the interaction that he took it back to the team which made it into the final game.

Terry certainly doesn't use the phrase in the same way though considering he strangely asks his opponent how they're doing before blasting them away with one of his most powerful attacks.

It'd be like if the kid was standing at the top of Splash Mountain with a bucket and asked if Oda was okay as he tossed the water just before plummeting into the pool below.

The second image shares an additional interesting detail about the Buster Wolf, as SNK had originally wanted to call it God Geyser Twin since pretty much all of his Desperation Moves up to that point surrounded the Power Geyser.

Over 20 years later, the line still appears in essentially everything Terry himself takes part in, including introducing a whole new audience to shout out 'are you okay' when he joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Fatal Fury's star actor is getting a new Super move in KOF15, which we're assuming will be called Buster Launcher, though it doesn't look like they gave him a fun tag line to go with it this time around.

Now, whenever you see a Buster Wolf thrown out, you can picture in your mind a very wet Oda being checked on by a child, so you're welcome.
