Capcom has officially announced a Street Fighter 5 Pro Tour for 2021. The season of competitive play will be played online and will feature 32 events across 19 different territories as well as carry a total prize pool of over $200,000.

As per the usual, Capcom is also releasing new Pro Tour content to help bolster prize winnings. This time we're getting new costumes for G, Seth, and one mystery attire we'll learn more about a later date. A new stage called "The Ring of Galaxy" is also on the way, and you can see footage of all of this in the trailer below.

The official CPT site lays out the ground rules and expectations going into this latest competitive endeavor.

"Capcom Pro Tour 2021 will be a continuation of the 2020 format due to global travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines. The new season will be comprised of more than 30 online regional premiers set across 19 territories. Winners of these online premiers will auto qualify for Capcom Cup 8 which will be held in early 2022. The Capcom Cup 8 will offer a prize pool of more than $200,000. In addition, the top four finalists of each online premier will split a prize pool of $5,000.

"The opening event of the 2021 season will be the first of four online premiers for Japan. Registration for the Japan #1 online premier opens March 29 with the tournament running Saturday April 17 and Sunday April 18. Per usual, the tournament will be streamed on the Capcom Fighters Twitch and YouTube channels."

Last year's Tour was initially planned for the usual offline circuit, but COVID-19 quickly put the kibosh on those plans. Capcom rerouted to take the entire Tour online, and planned for a Capcom Cup in the Dominican Republic, but that too wound up falling through as a result of COVID restrictions.

Finalists instead wound up playing online exhibitions against other top competitors from their respective regions, but 2020's Tour certainly and understandably felt very much muted compared to the usual hype and excitement the Tour brings.

The full CPT schedule is now available to view on the website as well where events will begin in April and continue to run through January 2022.
