Wii Fit Trainer's shadow buffed Header in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will reportedly be reverted by Nintendo in a future patch

Patch 11.0.0 introduced numerous buffs and nerfs for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Strangely, one of the most impactful changes wasn't even listed in the patch notes. Wii Fit Trainer's Header special saw a reduction of landing lag from 9 frames to 4 frames. This has significantly improved Wii Fit Trainer's zoning options and has provided her with new combo routes.

The implementation of this header buff was actually intended to address a bug reported by bFEpTdvFZ5CGFEN to Nintendo. Since Super Smash Bros. 4, there was a bug that caused Wii Fit Trainer's Header to not work properly under certain conditions. According to bFEpTdvFZ5CGFEN, Nintendo did not intend for the landing lag reduction of this special and will be reverting it in a future patch.

Ultimately, this will cause the Header's total number of frames to increase back to 53 up from 48. Keep in mind that the total number of frames is also influenced by the staleness of the move (a weaker Header has less hitlag when hitting the ball) and Deep Breathing (faster fall speed).

As of right now, it's currently unknown when the next patch that will effectively revert Wii Fit Trainer's Header will drop. One possibility is that this change will come version 12.0.0, or when the next challenger from Fighters Pass Vol. 2 is released.

However, Nintendo has traditionally released one or two patches between DLC releases. At some point, there might be an announcement for version 11.1.0 of the game that will address this unintentional buff. Replays involving Wii Fit Trainer will undoubtedly be affected.

In the meantime, it'd probably be best for Wii Fit Trainer users to not get too comfortable with the new and improved Header special. It's just about guaranteed to be reverted at this point.

bFEpTdvFZ5CGFEN's statement on Wii Fit Trainer in 11.0

About the silent Wii Fit Trainer buffs in version 11...

Last December, I reported a bug that has existed since Super Smash Bros. 4 (not being able to use Header in specific situations). Nintendo responded immediately, saying that this will be fixed at a later date. This bug was fixed in the last patch. Along with that, Header's landing lag has been shortened significantly (from 9 frames to 4 frames).

Because this bug fix wasn't in the patch notes, we didn't know if this significant decrease in landing lag was intentional, and many Wii Fit Trainer players were confused. We are currently unsure of when the next update is and I thought if the uncertainty lasted too long, there would be cons to us Wii Fit Trainer players.

Therefore, I contacted Nintendo about the decreased lag for the move. A few days later, Nintendo responded that this was an unintentional "buff," and it will be reverted in a later patch. We are unsure when this patch will drop.
