Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is gearing up for the release of the game's next DLC fighter, Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Just this morning, Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai showcased the new character during his Mr. Sakurai Presents broadcast, which walked viewers through everything we needed to know about the next contender.

Among the breakdown of their moves and abilities, Sakurai also revealed when players will be able to get their hands on the upcoming combatants. Pyra and Mythra will be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate later today (March 4).

Pyra and Mythra occupy the same character slot and are both accessible in battle. You can switch between the two fighters using down special, and their transformation is much like that of Zelda and Sheik's.

Both characters come equipped with their own strengths, so switching between the two during battle will help you gain an edge on your opponent. Pyra is slower, but wields more strength in her attacks, while Mythra is much faster and utilizes lighter strikes.

Pyra and Mythra arrive as Challenger Pack 9 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Those who purchased Fighters Pass volume 2 will gain access to them as soon as they're available, but you can also opt to purchase them as a standalone pick up.

Fighters Pass vol. 2 will run you $29.99 USD and includes six DLC characters, as well as six unique stages and a ton of new music tracks. If you buy the pass right now, you'll receive ARMS' Min Min, Steve from Minecraft, Final Fantasy 7's Sephiroth, and Pyra and Mythra. Two more DLC characters are still to be released, and by owning the pass you'll gain access to them when they launch.

You can also purchase Pyra and Mythra for $5.99 USD. Doing so will unlock the character for you, as well as their new stage and music tracks.

Sakurai did not mention when today the new DLC fighter will go live, but we will update this story as soon as they do.
