Dragon Ball FighterZ Producer Tomoko Hiroki reveals upcoming balance patch in August

No netcode improvements by the sound of it

In a Tweet released by Bandai Namco Esports, it's been revealed that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be receiving a new balance patch in August 2021.

"We are also planning to release a new update in the middle of August this year," said Tomoko Hiroki, Producer of Dragon Ball FighterZ. "As for the contents of this update, not only will we be balancing the characters, but we will be making adjustments to the overall battle to allow more dynamic attacks and defense, such as enabling aerial guard cancel changes, so we hope you will look forward to this update as well."

Though Dragon Ball FighterZ will be receiving this balance patch, we shouldn't expect any improvements to be made to the game's netcode. Hiroki ends up spending a little time talking about how difficult this process would be.

"As mentioned in my previous message video, it's currently difficult for us to improve the netcode, but we would like to do our best to provide a place where everyone can have fun and fight as much as possible, so we hope everyone will join us," said Hiroki.

This year's Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament will most be a series of online events that is currently scheduled to begin in September. More details about future events will be revealed in the future.

As of this moment, Gotenks is widely considered to be the best character in Dragon Ball FighterZ if CO|Co1's tier list is anything to go by. Still, the character isn't being talked about to the same degree as Perfect Cell, Kid Buu, Bardock, GT Goku and Ultra Instinct Goku from previous seasons. It remains to be seen if Gotenks will be on the chopping block when it comes to nerfs.

The lack of a Season 4 announcement seems to suggest that SS4 Gogeta is intended to be the last character for Dragon Ball FighterZ. In the clip itself, nothing about future DLC was mentioned.

The clip ends with Hiroki thanking fans for their continued support for Dragon Ball FighterZ.
