It's been a couple of weeks since Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown was rereleased on the PlayStation 4. To commemorate the success of this rerelease, Chief Producer Seiji Aoki released a message thanking fans and mentioned future plans.

While Aoki is unable to reference any specific figures, it is stated that there are a lot of people playing the game worldwide. The success of the Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown rerelease has exceeded the developers' expectations.

"It has been two weeks since the release on the PlayStation 4," said Aoki. "We cannot disclose the figures, but we are thrilled to announce that a huge number of people aross the world are playing the game, much beyond the dev team's expectations. We are truly grateful — thank you!"

Aoki then talks about plans for future updates and adjustments. Though the Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown release for the PlayStation 4 does have new features and improvements, the lack of balance adjustments are noteworthy.

Though we aren't provided any details about what these future updates will entail, the possibilities certainly are promising. It's hard to imagine balance adjustments after so many years, but it's not impossible.

"We will continue to make updates, such as corrections, adjustments, function addition, with the purpose of delivering Virtua Fighter to as many people as possible," continued Aoki. "If you haven't played it yet, download before PS Plus Free Play ends of August 2. Thank you for your continued support for Virtua Fighter and Sega."
