Street Fighter 5 Director's latest artwork guess for next King of Fighters 15 character is actually plausible and really well done

I'd be down to see him return again and be actually playable this time

Despite the unfortunate news that The King of Fighters 15 was delayed into 2022, SNK is still teasing new character announcements, which of course means the meme guesses continue to be in full effect.

Street Fighter 5 Director Takayuki Nakayama has been one of the most consistent of these with his own artistic interpretations of who the next reveal will be that are normally very off the mark, but his latest is surprisingly plausible and just an overall nice piece of fan art.

Continuing with his overarching trend of sketching old SNK boss characters, Nakayama decided the silhouette looked enough like Shion to make it a reality — at least in his own head.

Though Shion hasn't been playable / fightable in 15 years since his introduction in King of Fighters 11, he did appear briefly in the story for King of Fighters 13.

Considering there's not much known about the true motives and intentions of the spear-wielding fighter, now would be a great time to re-introduce him in KOF15, especially if they're planning on bringing Ash Crimson back as well.

There are a lot of mysteries still hidden within the series' lore, and perhaps it's finally time to explore more of that following the events of the last game and revival of characters like Team Orochi.

We've gotten no real indication on what the story of the new game will hold, however, and with the delay, we may be waiting quite a while to find out more about what SNK has planned.

Though Shion probably isn't the character getting revealed tonight, here's hoping some more fighters we haven't seen in a long time make a return.
