Evo Community Series' PlayStation 4 Tournaments revealed
Back in March, it was revealed that Evo had been jointly acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment and RTS. It was also revealed that Evo 2021 is scheduled to take place this year in August.
Earlier today, the Evo Community Series' PlayStation 4 Tournaments was announced to serve as a "global celebration of the fighting game community." The Evo Community Series will begin on June 10 and will go on until August 3, just before the beginning of Evo 2021 Online.
The Evo Community Series will effectively function as three separate open-format tournaments — the PlayStation Tournaments FGC Arcade: Evo Edition (June 10 - June 22), the PlayStation Tournaments Evo 2021 Online Warm-up (June 26 – July 13) and the PlayStation Tournaments Evo 2021 Online Side Tournaments (July 8 to August 3).
At the PlayStation Tournaments FGC Arcade: Evo Edition, players are able to register for one of the following games: Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and Tekken 7.
As for the PlayStation Tournaments Evo 2021 Online Warm-up, players can sign up for Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Street Fighter 5 Champion Edition and Tekken 7.
Finally, competitors can get involved in the PlayStation Tournaments Evo 2021 Online Side Tournaments by registering to compete in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Soul Calibur 6 and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r].
Select matches will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. This announcement also promises a $20,000, $19,000 and $35,000 global prize pool for the three events.
