Athena Asamiya revealed for King of Fighters 15
SNK has released their next big character trailer for King of Fighters 15. None other than Athena Asamiya has been revealed as the next fighter to join the game's roster.
The quick showcase gives us a glimpse at how this returning combatant will play in the upcoming fighting title. Featured here we see numerous special moves on display, various combos, and also her cinematic super.
Athena is rocking a new look here in King of Fighters 15. Instead of the long hair and white outfit we saw back in King of Fighters 14, this warrior now sports a shorter hairdo and a short, red dress.
Much of her main move set looks to be retained here in the latest iteration in the franchise. Athena can utilize her trademark Psycho Ball projectile, her uppercut, and her Phoenix Arrow diving attack, but there also appears to be some new stuff added to her repertoire.
The final portion of the trailer reveals an updated cinematic super that brings some new flourishes to what we knew and loved back in KOF14. Upon landing it successfully, Athena teleports and leapfrogs over the opponent, does a quick dash attack through them, then leaps up into the air to rain down a giant Psycho Ball that creates a massive explosion when it touches down.
Athena actually made her debut in an action arcade game called Psycho Soldier back in 1986. She first entered the fighting game ring with King of Fighters '94, but she went on to become a staple of the series appearing in many main line KOF games and spin offs.
Traditionally, Athena belongs to Team Psycho Soldier. This squad consists of Athena, Kensou, and Chin.
This time, however, this contender joins up with Mai Shiranui and Yuri Sakazaki to form Team Super Heroine.
