'I'll for sure get heat for putting May this low' - Evo champion Mean Saltine releases Guilty Gear Strive tier list

Opinions on character strength for the new Guilty Gear Strive are a flowin' and today we have a tier list from Evo 2013 Divekick champion, Ben "Meansaltine" Chandler.

Not only has Chandler placed all 15 of Strive's roster members across three different tier levels, he's also noted their respective strengths within each level and included a bit of explanation for each and every fighter.

He places just two avatars in the S tier category, noting them to be "OP characters that are head and shoulders above the rest of the cast." Four more are then placed in A tier, which is characterized as "privileged characters that have advantages over the rest of the cast," and then the rest of the roster is in B tier.

Every one of Strive's characters are capable of some pretty notable offense/damage output, and so there doesn't seem to be any characters who simply can't compete at all. Chandler agrees with this, noting, "Damage is so high in Strive that you can win with anyone."

We've heard more cries of frustration about one character in particular over anyone else, and that's May with her pesky dolphins. While she's almost never regarded as the best character in Strive, many players have felt firsthand her very powerful strengths that are relatively easy to access.

Chandler has May somewhat low on the list as she's ninth out of fifteen, and while he knows some disagreement is surely coming, he does give some reasoning as to why she's not all that deserving of a higher placement.

"I'll for sure get heat for putting May this low," he starts. "AMAZING buttons will carry players who aren't good in the neutral game. Dolphins are annoying, but have answers. Punishing a predictable May feels amazing, and once she's on defense, you can blow her up."
