Arc System Works actively considering implementing rollback netcode into older titles like with GGXXACPR

The update that gave Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R rollback netcode ended up being a big hit with fans before the release of Guilty Gear Strive. Fans have been wondering ever since if Arc System Works would be willing to give this type of treatment to some of their other older games.

Guilty Gear Producer Takeshi Yamanaka and Guilty Gear Strive project director Akira Katano recently spoke about this possibility in an exclusive interview with Communidad Arc System Works.

"Will we see more past games having the Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R treatment?" asked Communidad. Potential candidates for this type of treatment include Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, BlazBlue: Central Fiction and more.

Unfortunately, it might be too difficult for Arc System Works to implement rollback netcode for Dragon Ball FighterZ and Granblue Fantasy: Versus as they are not the publishers for those titles. It would pretty much be up to Bandai Namco and Cygames respectively for this to happen.

"Yes, we cannot say when it would happen for sure, but we are actively thinking about it," said Arc System Works in response to Communidad's question.

"I believe our future titles will have the rollback architecture as default now. We are even considering implementing it in past titles," continued Arc System Works. "For the quality of the experience, it has to be taken case-by-case, so we cannot promise anything but all our teams always do their best."

This isn't the first time Arc System Works talked about this as they also mentioned exploring rollback netcode in their older fighting games back in March. The fact that they mentioned this again as late as July indicates that this really is something they're actively considering right now.
