Annie of the Stars is now officially available for Skullgirls 2nd Encore
The shooting star has a new home
Fighting game fans were quite surprised to learn last year that Skullgirls 2nd Encore would be seeing more DLC support almost a decade after its initial release, and now the first big step towards the future is available to all.
Annie of the Stars is now officially released as the first character of Skullgirls' Season 1 Pass including her own story mode and balance changes for a good number of the cast.
Although the new fighter has been available for sometime in Early Access form on the PC version of the game, this is the first time PlayStation 4 owners will get the chance to take the television star for a spin.
As far as her gameplay goes, Annie is a fairly straightforward fighter using her blade and kicks to rack up big combos, and she seems to share quite a bit in common with Guilty Gear's Sol Badguy.
She even has a Dragon Install-like Blockbuster, but it doesn't give her a huge transformation, however.
Annie's story mode is finally here as well with her campaign to take down the Skull Heart that's cursed her to live for centuries at this point.

On top of the character and new Sound Stage 15 arena, the developers have also now implemented a balance overhaul on PS4 that touches up Filia, Parasoul, Painwheel, Cerebella, Eliza, Peacock, Robo-Fortune, Beowulf, Valentine, Double, Ms. Fortune and Painwheel.
Robo-Fortune and Eliza also had some of their core mechanics reworked for the new release, which you can find the details on in the previous patch notes.
The full list of patch notes for Annie's release can be found here.
Skullgirls fans also got the good news this week that their game will finally be a mainstage event at Evo Online this year, so we can check out the acrobatic action on a global scale soon.
Annie of the Stars can be purchased as part of the Skullgirls Season 1 Pass for $35 or by herself for $10. Umbrella will be the next character to release later this year.
