Mokap is always treated like a joke in Mortal Kombat but he's a lot stronger than people give him credit for

Mortal Kombat's inclusion of hidden joke characters started getting a bit out of control in the PlayStation 2-era titles with new kombatants like Mokap and Meat showing up, but were they actually any good?

Recently, PND|Ketchup released an interesting new video diving into the competitive history and viability of Mokap, which you may find quite surprising.

Based on the likeness of MK Animator and original Raiden actor Carlos Pesina, Mokap first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance in his strangely recognizable motion capture body suit ready to kick some butt.

At the time of Deadly Alliance's release, the content creators couldn't find much of any records of Mokap showing up in tournaments of the day although some of that may be lost to history now.

Looking at his viability from a modern perspective, however, they believe the joke character to actually be quite strong for a few reasons.

For starters, Mokap has access to the same Tae Kwon Do style as Sonya Blade, who is often considered among the top tiers in the game, which gives him powerful combo options as well as other good stance changes with karate and tai chi.

Mokap's second and final playable appearance in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon changed up his moveset, which gave him some powerful new specials though it was his low punch that was considered by competitors as one of the best attacks in the game.

You can check out Ketchup and Mustard's full video below for much more details on Mokap's abilities in each game, how strong or weak they all were and the impact they had on the games.
