The Mortal Kombat community still isn't happy with how weak big boss Shao Kahn is in Mortal Kombat 11

There's a bit of an unwritten rule that has naturally emerged for longer lasting fighting game franchises like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and this rule that assumes certain legacy characters of certain statuses are of a certain ability when it comes to their in-game performances.

One of the genre's most iconic and traditionally powerful boss figures, Mortal Kombat's Shao Kahn, is and has not been hitting these expectations in Mortal Kombat 11. This relatively minor but distractingly irksome injustice is being highlighted by content creators, True Under Dawg Gaming being the most recent of them.

It's not to say that a traditional boss character needs to be the most unbeatable figure on the roster, (please nerf Akuma in Street Fighter 5) but failing to meet fan expectations by too wide a margin is always going to be detrimental to the experience your game provides.

True Under Dawg's latest video is titled "Awful Design: Why Shao Kahn is the Worst Character in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate," and goes into specific detail as to why the fearsome Emperor of Outworld (depending on where on the timeline(s) you're talking) just can't compete in MK11's atmosphere.

Small things like the ability to safely poke, punish, and be a reasonably threat from certain ranges really add up, and the iconic boss figure just doesn't check enough of these boxes to be formidable.

As noted earlier, this isn't the first time this topic has been highlighted for the sake of getting NetherRealm Studios to adequately buff Shao. Rooflemonger had some very similar sentiments in a video last month, so be sure to check that out as well.
