Kitana, Liu Kang and Geras were even more ridiculous than they are now in Mortal Kombat 11 before the day 1 patch

It's been nearly two years since Mortal Kombat 11 was first released on April 23, 2019. The game has seen a ton of changes via patches since then.

As highlighted by TrueUnderDawgGaming in his latest video, some of the most impactful changes actually came to the game during the day one patch. Many characters were much stronger before that first patch applied some notable nerfs that ultimately changed their playstyles.

Before Mortal Kombat 11, Kitana was known for being able to extend juggles in Mortal Kombat 9 and Mortal Kombat X thanks to her fan toss special. Even in Kitana's Mortal Kombat 11 reveal trailer, she was shown to be able to do this.

However, it seems that NetherRealm Studios wanted to take Kitana's combo paths in a different direction as her ability to extend juggles with her fan toss was removed. Luckily though, Kitana is still very effective at converting stray hits into lengthy combos even without this version of the special.

Many players believe Liu Kang to be one of the most obnoxious fighters to face off against in a Mortal Kombat 11 match. Luckily for those people, they probably never had to fight against his pre-patched version.

Before the day one patch, Liu Kang was a lot better at mixing up opponents as he had access to more lows and overheads. In fact, one attack that currently functions as a high hitting move that gives Liu Kang a meterless juggle used to also be one of the fastest overheads in the game.
