Dan Hibiki's story prologue in Street Fighter 5 pays homage to Street Fighter 2's world map

Dan Hibiki is the latest character to join Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition's roster. As the Saikyo Ultimate Style master is considered to be a joke character, hilarious antics are expected from his story prologue.

At one point in the story, there's a need for Dan to fly from Japan to Brazil. To showcase this, Street Fighter 5 pays homage to the world map shown in Street Fighter 2.

Upon seeing the "popularity" of the Blanka-chan dolls, Dan ends up accidentally breaking the crane game at the arcade that has employed Sakura. After a brief chase, Dan and Sakura end up fighting against one another.

When Sakura tells Dan more about the Blanka-chan dolls, Dan gets the idea to fly to Brazil. Of course, he needs to borrow money from Sakura to do this...

This is where the world map image from Street Fighter 2 comes into play. We see an airplane fly from Japan to Brazil, which is clearly intended to represent Dan's trip to meet with Blanka.

To top it all off, we even get to hear the Street Fighter 2 voice clip that says "Brazil" that came right before the arcade battle against Blanka.
