Potential infinite combo for Dan in Street Fighter 5 discovered seemingly instantly by Desk

Street Fighter 5's long awaited fifth season officially began to roll out last night as Dan Hibiki was added as the first of five new DLC characters, and, almost immediately, creative combo master Desk discovered what looks to be an infinite loop.

The series is mostly comprised of crouching and standing heavy punches paired with fireballs, but thankfully isn't as easy as it appears when performed on screen. Desk has yet to max out the combo meter with it, but notes that he believes he'll be able to with a bit more time (aka, more than 20 minutes in training mode).

While this kind of thing is almost always something developers are going to want to remove, it doesn't look to be all that game-breaking as it's relatively difficult to perform and requires nuanced spacing to keep going beyond 20 or so hits.

"The combo in the video requires super precise spacing," says Desk in the description under his video. "Sometimes it tops out at 30+ hits, sometimes 50-ish. I'm sure with some tweaking it can get to 99."

The test is performed on the bigger bodied Zangief, but Desk later notes in the comments that he's practiced on the very average-shaped Ryu and that it works just about the same way on him.

We'd imagine this will make its way out of Street Fighter 5 via a future patch, but rapid damage, stun, and meter scaling help to mute its potential effects. Dan players could hypothetically use this to run out the clock, but given its relative difficulty and inconsistency, it may not register as the highest of priority emergencies.

If you haven't seen them already, Street Fighter 5's latest patch notes are available here.
