Ryu and Chun-Li are indeed making the jump to Fortnite in new Street Fighter crossover

Will they be getting a new mini-game type or just the skins?

As one of the biggest video games on planet Earth right now, Fortnite has wrapped in some crazy crossovers from Thanos to revealing that Emperor Palpetine was still alive in Star Wars. Now they apparently have their eyes on the father of modern fighting games.

We previously reported that a mysterious portal opened in Fortnite's map that showed Ryu's iconic Suzaku Castle stage from Street Fighter 2, and a new trailer confirms that the iconic Shoto and Chun-Li will soon be available to use in the battle royale too.

The reveal video begins with a shot of a Street Fighter 2 arcade cabinet where Ryu and Chun-Li are starting a round on top of the castle before a 2D sprite version of a Fortnite character warps in and rips the world warriors into his world — with the nice little added touch that it double KOs the characters.

Official character skins for both icons are shown off at the end though there's still no additional information as to when they'll become available and what's all coming from the world of SF with them.

More announcements are scheduled to come later today at 4 p.m. PT, so perhaps it'll somehow tie into the Capcom Pro Tour 2020 Season Finals which is set to start at the same time.

Judging by previous crossovers, special weapons that can shoot Hadokens or something is quite likely though it'd be neat to see the stages themselves somehow worked into the map.

Maybe some sort of fighting game mechanic could be implemented as well because I kinda want to see Fortnite players doing the Shoryuken motion for their reactions.

It is going to be a bit weird though seeing Ryu and Chun-Li run around with "actual" guns and dancing, but I'm sure there's plenty of stranger Street Fighter promotions that have come and gone in the past.
