Pyra and Mythra revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass Vol. 2

Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 have been revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass Vol. 2. It seems that Rex won't be Xenoblade Chronicles 2's rep for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

When the Fighters Pass Vol. 1 was first announced, it seemed like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would be absent from Smash in terms of character representation as it was revealed that Rex would get Mii costume parts instead.

Pyra and Mythra appear to work as a two-in-one fighter, similar to how Zelda and Sheik worked in Super Smash Bros. Melee. As mentioned by Rex, the two can freely swap between one another during matches.

Switching between Pyra and Mythra gives the player quite a bit of invincibility time during the switch, just like with Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon Swap down special.

While Pyra uses attacks enhanced with flames, Mythra uses light-based attacks. Mythra also has an ability called "Foresight" which seems to function like a counter of sorts.

When Foresight is activated, Mythra will move to a different location and slow the opponent down. Based on what's shown in the trailer, it looks like it functions very similar to Bayonetta's Witch Time.

Some of Pyra's attacks include Smash Flare, Flame Nova, Prominence Revolt and Blazing End. Meanwhile, Mythra has access to Lightning Buster, Photon Edge, Ray of Punishment and Chroma Dust.

It's stated during the trailer that Pyra is meant to be "serious firepower" while Mythra is "blinding speed." This seems to imply that Pyra might be more ideal for scoring knock outs as she might have more KO power than Mythra.

Although this once again disconfirms Rex as a playable fighter, he does make an appearance during Pyra and Mythra's Final Smash. The Final Smash appears to have different properties based on which character initiates it.

Challenger Pack 9 is scheduled to release sometime in March 2021.
