Ramlethal plays like an almost entirely different character in Guilty Gear Strive

If that's a good thing or bad thing is up to you

Ramlethal Valentine was one of the most popular newcomers to join Guilty Gear Xrd's roster, so it wasn't surprising to see her return in Guilty Gear Strive though previous muscle memory probably won't do you much good if you used to play her.

Arc System Works has now released the official starter guide for Ramlethal as she'll appear in Strive, and what's striking about it is just how much is different about her compared to her debut to the series.

One of the most striking changes shown is that she can no longer send out and retrieve her greatswords at will, which certainly alters her pressure game compared to Xrd.

Ramlethal can now throw her blades as a giant projectile called Bajoneto that can explode for extra damage in the corner, but to get them back, she'll either need to pick them up herself or wait for them to come after a set period of time.

If she gets a wall splat though, Ram can pick up her swords and continue combos easily.

The Dauro launcher is one of her few returning moves and looks to be probably her main combo starter / extender outside of the corner. The Valentine's sister's damage output looks pretty crazy.

A handful of moves though get much weaker if one or both of her swords are away from her body like the new slam move

What most Ramlethal players probably wouldn't have expected to receive would be a Rekka move, but that's apparently exactly what she got with Erarlumo, which lets her show off her martial arts at close range.

Just how different Ram will be in actual matches remains to be seen in the open beta coming next week, but she's definitely not in the same boat as Sol, Ky or the other series mainstays. ArcSys previously released new starter guides for Zato-1 and Millia Rage as well leading up to the event.
