Intrigue anew, excitement and one very happy Luffy - The fighting game community reacts to Street Fighter 5's Winter Update, Rose, Dan and Eleven
This might be the most positive vibes the game has ever seen
Capcom pretty much came out swinging this morning with Street Fighter 5's Winter Update considering they showed off three characters, a game-altering battle mechanic and a tease of balance changes to come, which seems to be going over quite well for those still around playing after five years โ while also turning the heads of some who previously left it behind.
With just how much the gameplay is likely to change from V-Shift's implementation on top of Rose and Dan, now is the perfect time to see how the fighting game community's best players and biggest voices feel about what's right around the corner for SF5.
The overwhelming majority of players commenting on the update have been positive โ unless you want new costumes for Necalli โ which is not something we've really seen since Arcade Edition's reveal trailer.
No one was probably more happy on the planet though than Luffy considering how much of Rose's gameplay was shown off and just how many tools she has already. The former EVO champ has been waiting five years for the character that helped him reach that stage, but that means R. Mika may be hitting the locker room.
Many are intrigued by V-Shift and feel that it's going to completely change the meta that we've pretty much known for SF5's entire life span with a strong defensive tool.
Panda|Punk, however, is concerned that it might make Dhalsim the best character in the game in Season 5.
Another former EVO champ in RZR|Xian feels that players will need to re-learn everything about the game now that should make 50/50 situations more manageable and possibly make things harder for characters trying to build three bars of V-Gauge.
There are plenty of jokes too though about running tournaments using only the shapeshifting Eleven, but perhaps the most poignant is NVD|Phenom by giving an update to just how many days ago it was that Necalli received his last personal costume. Spoiler, it's well over 1,000.
A lot of speculation is floating around now too about which characters' moves will be hurt the most by V-Shifting like G's rush punch, Seth's rapid hits and also their V-Trigger 2 orb may have some better counter options now.
