DJ Steve Aoki to join Capcom for Street Fighter 5 Winter Update stream
Capcom is putting some extra bells and whistles on next week's Street Fighter 5 Winter Update presentation as they announced today that DJ, record producer, music programmer, and record executive Steve Aoki will be joining in on the fun.
Street Fighter 5's fifth season of DLC and development is slated to kick off here in February with a relatively large content drop including a new character in Dan Hibiki, updated game balance, new costumes, and an all new battle mechanic. One has to wonder whether developers have brought the charismatic Aoki in simply to build hype for the presentation, or if he's added a little musical flavor to some aspect of the update itself.
The text in the announcement tweet (shown below) makes us wonder further if Steve isn't leaving a more permanent stamp on Street Fighter 5 here in its final chapters.

We have seen Capcom reach out to celebrities for SF5 announcements in recent times as they've partnered up with All Elite Wrestling's (AEW) Kenny Omega for the Summer Update back in August of last year.
Omega, who is an AEW executive vice president as well as the company's reigning World Champion, also worked with Capcom as a host at Capcom Cup 2019, was featured in the Cody reveal trailer as Mayor Tavers himself, and has appeared at multiple Street Fighter events in the past.
Next Thursday's presentation will include more information about Dan, Rose, the new battle mechanic, eSports news, and more. The first big batch of content still does not have an official release date, but developers have stated that Dan will be released in February of this year. Capcom Cup was slated to take place from Feb 19-21, but has been cancelled and replaced with the Capcom Pro Tour Final. Most bets are on this first major Season 5 content drop coming at the end of the Final or very soon thereafter.
