'A bunch of characters' currently in development for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, developers hint at addition of voice acting
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl fans have a lot to look forward to in the near future and throughout 2022, it seems. New characters, stages, cross-play, and potentially voice acting are in the works and are en route to the game, according to the developers.
At the end of a $5,000 tournament ran by professional Super Smash Bros. player, Liquid|Hungrybox, the game's art director Diego Hernandez stopped by to share some updates about Nick Brawl. Among the announcements were several confirmations, and one heavy implication of something fans have been demanding since day one.
To kick things off, Hernandez notes that a final, free DLC character is headed to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl very soon. While there isn't an official release date for the character yet, the developer emphasizes that they will be coming in the near future and "right away."
On top of that, we now have confirmation that more DLC characters are coming to Nick Brawl. Hernandez says there are "a bunch" of characters in the works at the moment, as well as new stages and content.
In the not so distant future, fans can look forward to the implementation of cross-play — the ability to fight against competitors across different platforms. Hernandez announced that this feature will become available in Q1 of 2022, and though the team wanted to launch with cross-play, they decided to wait in order to fine tune some of the details and have it function properly.
Lastly, the developer dropped a heavy hint that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will be seeing voice acting added to it.
"There's another major community requested feature in the works," Hernandez begins. "All I can say is that we have HEARD your requests, and we are HEARING what you want."
Hungrybox was quick to pick up on the hint and reaches the conclusion that voice acting is being added to the game, to which the art director simply shrugs and doesn't deny it. Based on what we're seeing here and the extreme demand for voice acting since the game's release, it is fairly likely that this is what Hernandez is hinting at.
