Ultra Instinct Shaggy is officially in Mortal Kombat... sort of

Some memes never truly die. It seems that when Tyler Lansdown, NetherRealm Studios Community Manager, boldly declared that "Shaggy will never appear in Mortal Kombat" during one of the Kombat Kast streams, he was wrong.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms is now available. Much to our surprise, a special guest makes an appearance during this movie. I'm not even kidding when I say that Ultra Instinct Shaggy and Scooby Doo are in the movie... sort of.

When booting up the movie, the WB logo can be seen on its iconic sign in a red background. After a few seconds, Scorpion emerges from the WB sign.

Scorpion is then seen performing some flashy movements. The animators did a good job bringing Scorpion to life here.

All of a sudden, a hand emerges from the WB logo and grabs Scorpion by the neck. It's a bit difficult to understand what Shaggy is saying as this happens, but it sounds as though he's saying "Like, come over here, man" or "Like, get over here, man."

As this is said, Scorpion is forcibly pulled back into the WB logo. Shaggy has an eerie green glow to him that's most commonly seen on Ermac.

Many fans are attributing this as a reference to the "Ultra Instinct Shaggy" meme that developed as a result of the "Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur" movie.

This scene even caught Ed Boon's attention. Perhaps there's hope for Shaggy becoming a playable character in a future Mortal Kombat game after all. Check it out below:
