Jack-O announced for Guilty Gear Strive, release date revealed
It was already known that Guilty Gear Strive's second DLC character would be launching sometime before the end of this month, and we finally know who is returning to the cast and when they'll be dropping.
Just before the start of Evo top 8 for North America, Arc System Works announced that Jack-O is coming back with a new trailer just as many fans suspected.
Jack-O first appeared in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator as a new character with great importance to the story, and now she's back sporting a selection of new moves that utilize her unique minion mechanics.
While her visual design and many of her normals may look pretty much the same, Jack-O's gameplay loop appears almost entirely different with her house-building tower defense-style moveset changed in favor of summoning her minions instantly.
Instead of having servants with different weapons and abilities, they all appear equipped with a shield, wings and lollipop, and it looks like she has a command to make them manually attack the opponent.
Interestingly, Jack-O can also punch or kick the servants to make them fly as a projectile or bounce around into each other, which seems very reminiscent of Venom from the previous games.
Her bubble shield and explosion moves have now been placed onto the servants themselves with a countdown timer being shown prior to the pop.
The trailer makes a point to show that Jack-O now fights with her trademark mask on and off, which wasn't a thing in Guilty Gear Xrd. It's still unclear though if removing it effects her gameplay or if it's just a cosmetic option to choose before battles.
Like Goldlewis before her, players will have access to Jack-O starting on August 27 for Season Pass 1 owners while those looking to pick her up individually need to wait a few days until August 30.
