Rose's prologue hints at apocalyptic scenario in Street Fighter lore that can be stopped by 'start[ing] it all over again, from zero'
Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition Season 5's newest character, Rose, is now accessible. Rose has been involving herself in Street Fighter 5's lore by sending her apprentice, Menat, as a messenger to warn certain individuals of future events. However, Rose's own prologue has her speaking with Oro and G directly.
After a battle with G, Rose receives a vision of an apocalyptic scenario. Rose initially believed that this event was somehow tied to M. Bison. Needless to say, M. Bison's defeat in Street Fighter 5's main story mode did nothing to prevent this future.
Unfortunately, Rose comes to the conclusion that it is now too late to change the world's future. As such, the whole experience has caused a real damper on Rose's mood.
Upon seeing Rose like this when she returns home, Menat decides to draw Rose a bath. This gives Rose an opportunity to relax and to think up a new strategy.
Eventually, Rose concludes that "the answer lies not in the future, but in the past." Rose believes that she is the only one that can stop this event, but only if she is able to impart the knowledge that she has now to her past self.
"If the person I was could see into my mind and realize the situation... Yes, I might be able to start it all over again. From zero," said Rose.
This seems to be a hint at something involving the Street Fighter Alpha series. Notably, Street Fighter Alpha is known as Street Fighter Zero in Japan. It also features Rose's debut appearance in Street Fighter.
The title of Rose's story prologue is referred to as "Return to Alpha." All of this could serve as a hint that Capcom intends to revisit the Street Fighter Alpha series in the future.
Based on Rose's dialogue, fans have begun speculating that Rose could do something similar to Raiden in Mortal Kombat 9 where the Thunder God warns himself of future events with the intent of changing them. This would imply that Street Fighter's story could see a reboot.
