No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda goes suddenly tight lipped after being asked if Travis Touchdown is headed to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has the most welcoming roster policy of any fighting game in history, and fans currently have their eyes on a particular franchise that hasn't seen any Smash representation yet: No More Heroes.

The creator of No More Heroes, Goichi "Suda51" Suda, has been openly vocal about wanting NMH's main protagonist, the Beam Katana-wielding Travis Touchdown, on the Smash Ultimate character select screen in the past and with a third installment of No More Heroes on the horizon the stage is perhaps more set than ever for a Travis Touchdown reveal. Suda was recently asked directly about the potential for this dream to come to fruition, but his response was a somewhat surprising "No comment".

This has the Smash and No More Heroes communities speculating as to why Suda has gone suddenly tight-lipped on a topic that he's had a rather passionate opinion about up until this point. Here's a quote the NMH Director shared with IGN that further cements the point.

"In all seriousness, next time [Sakurai] does decide to go and make a Smash Bros. game, I’m seriously going to tell him, ‘Put in Travis Touchdown. Come on, put him in the game.’ Every time we talk about this, partially in the middle he listens, he starts to laugh, and that laugh trails off... This time Sakurai-san, I’m not going to let you go. You’re not getting away."

Fans have also expressed a similar sentiment for wanting to see Mr. Touchdown join up with the likes of Mario, Samus, and Pikachu as they continually celebrate Nintendo's incredibly vast library by knocking the tar out of each other. Perhaps no one, however, is more hopeful than TravisSSBU, whose entire Twitter account is dedicated to highlighting this single concept.

It was TravisSSBU who shared the below image from Switch Player's interaction with Suda:

By no means does this confirm Travis Touchdown for Ultimate's second wave of DLC, but it certainly does perk ears up. There's also the potential that developers could be whipping up a TT Amiibo, Mii costume, or trophy as opposed to a fully fleshed out character.

A response like "no comment" might also be used if Suda were in more of a negotiations phase with nothing certain yet on the table. Masahiro Sakurai has previously stated that the DLC lineup for Fighter Pass 2 is already decided, but we've seen plenty of instances in the past where such plans change (we likely weren't supposed to have a fifth season of Street Fighter 5, for example).

There's surely a scenario where Sakurai and his Ultimate team wind up producing a third DLC batch in the future, especially considering the massive success the franchise's latest installment has seen with its 20 million+ units sold.

Time will tell whether or not No More Heroes and Smash Ultimate have common ground in their respective future paths, but for now let us know in the comments how much you're hoping (or not hoping) to see Travis Touchdown make it to the game's roster.
