Will we finally see the release date and price?

After Microsoft took their turn last week to reveal their next generation console prices and release date, it's time for Sony to finally do the same — hopefully.

The new PlayStation 5 Showcase digital event is scheduled to begin today at 1 p.m. PT where they plan to show upcoming games and probably more information about the big system's launch.

This latest live-streamed event is scheduled to last around 40 minutes in total though the only thing Sony has confirmed thus far is they'll show more about their launch lineup of titles and other upcoming exclusives for the PS5.

No release date or pricing for either of the PS5 models has been revealed as of yet which is certainly out of the ordinary for a console that's supposed to hit store shelves in likely less than two months.

Microsoft will be selling the flagship Xbox Series X for $500 USD with the cheaper and less powerful Series S for $300. Both of those consoles launch on November 10, 2020.

Out of all of the next gen titles that have been revealed thus far, Guilty Gear Strive is the only traditional fighting game that's been announced though it is also a cross generation game for PS4 similarly to what Xrd did.

We did have some other titles like Injustice: Gods Among Us also come for the current gen launch as well, so perhaps we might see a new version of Mortal Kombat 11 at some point too.

At least both the PS5 and new Xbox systems will be backwards compatible, so we'll still be able to play our current fighting game library with potential improvements to load times and resolution.

You can watch the PS5 showcase with us when it goes live below.
