Masahiro Sakurai is staying active with exercise routines using games like Ring Fit Adventure and Jump Rope Challenge

No reason to expect a Ring Fit Adventure or Jump Rope Challenge rep for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate however

The 612th Sakurai Column (as written by Masahiro Sakurai) was released earlier today. PushDustIn and Robert Sephazon have provided a synopsis on the translations of the column.

While it might be unfortunate that we haven't had any news regarding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC since Min Min's release back in June, the latest column has Masahiro Sakurai focusing on the topic of staying active during this period of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

As Sakurai is health conscious, he's apparently been looking for ways to keep active despite the gym being closed as of the time of writing the column. Since he begins to talk about Ring Fit Adventure and Jump Rope Challenge, it's implied that he's been playing those exercise games on the Switch.

While noting the combination of the RPG elements and fitness aspect of Ring Fit Adventure, Sakurai does note that "it's too bad that the attacking is only limited to fitness." Sakurai figures that it could be "more fun if a beam came out when the player pushed in the Ring-Con or could have other ways to influence what was happening on screen."

Sakurai would then go on to talk about Fitness Boxing and Jump Rope Challenge. "All in all, Sakurai thinks making exaggerated movements with your body has the best results," states PushDustIn.

Keep in mind that Sakurai's comments about Ring Fit Adventure or the other titles in no way confirms representation in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Previously, Sakurai mentioned that he tries to avoid talking about games that he's playing since fans have a tendency to take it as confirmation of a character in Super Smash Bros.

A Spirit Board event added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate back in March 2020 appeared to have disconfirmed the Ring Fit Adventurer anyhow. This is taking into account the fact that the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 has already been planned out.

Outside of video games, Sakurai has been maintaining his exercise by using an exercise bike (while still playing video games), lifting dumbbells, and climbing stairs. It's certainly good to hear that Sakurai is making an effort to maintain his health considering his past tendency to work himself too hard for the sake of developing the Super Smash Bros. series during his younger years.
