Street Fighter 5 character mysteriously vanishes from European player's game

A very peculiar happening occurred today in Norway as player NVD|Veggey booted up Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition on his PC to find that one particular character, R. Mika, was nowhere to be found.

As seen in some video footage, Veggey found just an empty gap on the character select screen where she normally sits between Rashid and Chun-Li, and further discovered her absence in a few other game modes.

We reached out to the Norwegian Birdie main for a few questions and he clarified that this took place on the PC version of SF5. The rainbow wrestler is absent from the game's versus mode, challenge modes, training mode, and from the Battle Settings menu that players must navigate before heading into online bouts.

You can see the video evidence via quick clips below:

Veggey added that this happened on a new smurf account (secondary account made by experienced players to run back through the earlier levels of difficulty in a game) and that he has not yet found a remedy to the issue. He did make sure to mention that "The game would be even better like this ;)" nodding to the fact that many players do find Mika to be particularly frustrating to face off against.

That's widely where things stand at the moment, though Street Fighter servers are currently scheduled for maintenance this evening from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. PDT. We can speculate that perhaps this is a manifestation of some kind of bug as developers prepare to do behind the scenes construction, though this is the only instance of such a happening we've seen reported thus far (including inspection of my own PC version of the game, just to be sure).

It's also worth mentioning that PC players have the option to tamper with the game a bit via mods. This could lead to complications and serve as an explanation, but we have not heard back from Veggey yet as to whether or not he's altered his game in this way.

We'll continue to monitor to see if and when this issue gets resolved. A big thanks to Veggey for the responses he gave, and those who are interested in high level Birdie action can find plenty of it on Veggey's Twitch stream.
