Master Roshi loses his sunglasses after sustaining enough damage in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Does he get bonuses like Wesker did in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Earlier this week, an extended look at Master Roshi's gameplay in Dragon Ball FighterZ was finally revealed to us. As such, we have a much better understanding of how Master Roshi will play compared to what we knew after that extremely brief reveal trailer.

Interestingly enough, it was shown that the Turtle Hermit's sunglasses will fly off after he sustains enough damage throughout the course of a match. This will make Master Roshi's eyes visible during gameplay.

In Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Wesker's sunglasses could be removed either through taking enough damage or by using his Phantom Dance hyper. Strangely, Wesker receives a speed bonus and a 15% damage boost if he's without his sunglasses. It was almost like a miniature X-Factor effect.

As of right now, it's currently unknown if Master Roshi is receiving a similar treatment in Dragon Ball FighterZ whenever his shades are knocked off. Does he somehow become stronger or faster without them?

A closer look at the gameplay seems to indicate that Master Roshi will lose his sunglasses after his health bar sustains about 50% damage — 5,000 damage to his 10,000 point health bar.

However, it was also shown that switching out Master Roshi will reset the damage amount required to remove Master Roshi's sunglasses. Other videos showed Master Roshi's health total being depleted to being below 50% health, but the shades remained anchored on the Turtle Hermit's face. As such, Master Roshi's sunglasses were never removed during the next extended gameplay trailer.
