Did you know that you can move Zangief's V-Trigger 1 forward and back in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition?

I had no idea

I play Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition actively and have been playing this game actively for the past four years. Despite that fact, and despite the fact that I work with this game for a living, I still had no idea that Zangief's V-Trigger 1 can be moved forward and backward.

Apparently, when Zangief is spinning during his V-Trigger 1, the player can hold forward or back and the large grappler will slowly move in that direction. This recent clip from AutoMattock teaches me something that I was not previously aware of.

Sitting in the training room, Automattock experiments with both the forward and backward movement on the V-Trigger. The significance here is that Zangief pulls the opponent in with the cyclone and it covers a large space in front of him.

This pull can essentially be moved around, meaning that if you think you're spaced out far enough away from Zangief while he's spinning, he can move in closer and get you anyway.

Even more interesting is that you don't even have to hold the buttons down to move Zangief backward or forward here. Simply touching the V-Trigger buttons and doing the basic spin of the cyclone allows you to move slightly in either direction.

Using this technique can change up his advantage or disadvantage on block, giving the opponent even more things to worry about when V-Trigger 1 is in play.
