'Within several days, I will officially leave Capcom' — Yoshinori Ono adds additional statements about his departure
Over Twitter, Yoshinori Ono has revealed that he'll officially depart from Capcom in a few days. This statement comes about one month since Yoshinori Ono first announced that he'll be leaving Capcom after having been with the company for 27 years.
Ono notes that while it's usually standard for employees to announce their resignation after the fact, he was apparently given special permission from Capcom to make the announcement one month before the event took place.
Despite separating from Capcom, Ono expressed gratitude towards the gaming company. He also gave his thanks to the fans that have supported him throughout the years.
"I am truly grateful that the company gave me a chance to spend the time with many Street Fighter fans while I am still with Capcom," said Ono.
Yoshinori Ono first began his three decade long career with Capcom back in April 1994 as a Sound Engineer that was part of Development team Department 1. Ono's work can be felt in titles like Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Street Fighter X Tekken, Darkstalkers Resurrection, Street Fighter 5 and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite — over 30 in all.
It can be argued that Yoshinori Ono was one of the men responsible for the fighting game resurgence that happened back in 2008 and 2009 when Street Fighter 4 was launched. Despite initial resistance from Capcom higher ups, Ono kept pitching Street Fighter 4 until the project plan was approved.
To celebrate his time with Capcom, Ono has created a mosaic of Blanka using photos of him with fans. Many of these photos are tinted green and orange so that Blanka could be seen by the human eye.

Yoshinori Ono's farewell message
Within several days, I will officially leave Capcom. I understand it's standard for a general employee to make a resignation announcement AFTER the fact. Capcom has agreed that I am allowed to make the announcement approximately one month prior to my actual last day at the company.
I am truly grateful that the company gave me a chance to spend the time with many Street Fighter fans while I am still with Capcom. Also, I was able to reach out to those individuals and companies I’ve worked with closely.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reach out to all the people I’ve worked with in the past, but I’d like to take this opportunity to show my gratitude to them. Thank you very much to All World Warriors.
I look forward to meeting you all again someday, somewhere around the globe.
