Dragon Ball FighterZ players have been patiently waiting for new content since May with the launch of Ultra Instinct Goku, but they won't have to wait much longer for the next character in Season 3.

The Japanese magazine publisher V-Jump released a surprise gameplay reveal for Master Roshi in DBFZ this morning which showcases a good number of his attacks and techniques along with securing a release date for the old martial artist.

As was previously revealed by V-Jump's magazine, Master Roshi does not have a standard Super Dash move, but instead has two variations of the function depending if he's on the ground or in the air.

Performing the move from the ground makes Roshi perform something of a super jump towards the opponent while the in air version is a Reverse Kamehameha to shoot him across the screen.

Interestingly, the Reverse Kamehameha doesn't necessarily track the enemy like a standard dash and is described as something of an eight-way dash. This means he could travel in pretty much any direction which should lead to some really unique setups once players delve deeper into the upcoming fighter.

Super Jump also doesn't snap to the opponent and can be angled which can allow him to vertically jump over people and may be quite useful in neutral play.

We also finally get to see the aftermath of Roshi's Evil Containment Wave Super which temporarily seals away the character hit by the attack. The sealing action appears to last for around 10 seconds in total once the new character has been switched in.

The footage also shows off the old hermit's light auto combo which goes into something of a command grab animation similarly to Ultra Instinct Goku where Roshi busts out the Afterimage Technique to beat on the opposition from multiple angles at once. The follow up afterwards uses the super jump instead of Super Dash.

V-Jump's player doesn't manage to actually land it, but they do show the start up of Roshi's other level one Super where he buffs up and swings his staff though we don't get to see the follow-up animation here.

We do, however, get to witness the Ultimate Strongest Kamehameha which looks to function similarly to most other level three beam Supers though it's unclear whether there's additional function to the move on hit because it was blocked in the footage.

They revealed at the end of the video that Master Roshi will be releasing in Dragon Ball FighterZ for FighterZ Pass 3 owners on September 16 followed by a full release for all players on September 18.
