Japanese artist draws beautiful versions of Street Fighter and King of Fighters characters

Technically Rival Schools as well

We came for the Akira but we stayed for the SNK. That pretty much sums up our experience with Otsudou, a Japanese artist and fighting game fan who is currently developing a portfolio.

We've put together a brief gallery of some of Otsudou's work including the aforementioned Akira, who hails from Rival Schools but is now slated to guest star in Street Fighter 5 next year, as well as Ibuki, Rock Howard, Benimaru, Terry Bogard, and Kyo Kusanagi of King of Fighters fame.

A lot of this artist's personality comes out in the watercolor-like textures that appear to sacrifice a bit of detail at first, but tend to encourage viewers to spend more time appreciating aspects of the images other than subject faces.

Closer inspection reveals a ton of detail as Otsudou spends plenty of time on things like wrinkles and bunches in clothing, muscle tone, and the way the light source might bounce and reflect off of each and every raised and lowered surface.

Akira appears close to how her revealed Street Fighter 5 art portrays her while the rest of the characters strike poses we're fairly used to seeing them in. The lightening and fire effects around Benimaru, Rock, and Kyo provide a nice touch and emphasis for their respective images.

Give our gallery a look through and please feel free to share any and all reactions in the comments section below. There's plenty more art on Otsudou's Twitter page, so be sure to check it out if you like what you see here.
