Mario's legacy recreated in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to honor Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary

Nintendo just dropped a wave of news on Mario fans this morning. In celebration of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., a Nintendo Direct was released that detailed all of the upcoming products the franchise will see up through Spring 2021.

During this Mario overload, the official Japanese Super Smash Bros. Twitter account wanted to get in on the fun of honoring the popular plumber. They uploaded a video that recreates Mario's 35-year legacy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

"It's been over 35 years since Super Mario Bros was released! In Smash Ultimate, you can relive Mario's adventures," the tweet reads thanks to the translation of PushDustIn.

Using the various stages, items, and game modes, it is entirely possible to recreate different scenes and settings from several main Mario games from over the years.

From the original Mario Bros. title where Mario and Luigi did battle for a high score all the way to Super Mario Odyssey, the representation for Mario games in Smash Bros. Ultimate is extensive. We even see tributes to Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy in this showcase, which were all three games announced as part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars package just this morning.

Mario fans everywhere are undoubtedly filled with warm, nostalgic feelings today after the big announcements. Now we here in the fighting game community can continue those good feelings with this awesome Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tribute to Mario's 35th anniversary.
