Sako and Xian are using a killer Seth V-Trigger 2 set up in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition that you should definitely learn
Seth players need to make this a staple tool in their arsenal
Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition's latest DLC character, Seth, is receiving a lot of attention right now. As players learn more of what the fighter is capable of and see more success with them in competitive play, their strength and placement on the tier list becomes more apparent.
Two clips of the same V-Trigger 2 set up were shared on Twitter early yesterday morning that feature both FAV|Sako and RZR|Xian putting their opponents in an absolutely deadly situation. If you're playing Seth already or are looking to learn them, you'll definitely want to continue on from here.
In Sako's clip, shared by the incomparable HiFight, we see the fighting game veteran corner his opponent and activate V-Trigger 2 from a blocked target combo. The orb keeps Gill locked down for a couple of seconds before Sako pulls it back and positions it right on top of himself — placing it just outside of Gill's throw range.
Due to the fact that the Gill player does not want to extend a normal out when that orb is right in their face, Sako is able to pull off a quick shimmy that leads into a crouching light kick confirm into orb explosion. The combo connects, and Sako follows it up with a spin kick into EX uppercut for the KO.
A very similar situation plays out for Xian as he goes for a blockstring, activates V-Trigger 2, locks his opponent down for a short stint, then positions the orb on top of himself. The hesitation to hit a normal and only attempt a throw here allows Xian to also get a shimmy going, only this time Xian hits a big target combo sequence into Critical Art for his win.
The whole foundation that this set up is built upon is fear. Much like Urien's Aegis Reflectors, if the orb is on-screen, right in front of you, it creates a major feeling of tension. You know that if you hit a button there you'll make contact with the orb, and Seth will be able to nail you with a hard-hitting confirm.
On top of that, the first portion of this set up tacks on a nice chunk of chip damage and gray health. If you don't have V-Reversal or aren't willing to spend it, you're going to have to sit there and eat the whole thing.
V-Trigger 2 is the harder to use of Seth's two V-Triggers, but those who put in the work are given access to much deadlier situations.
