Update: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R's rollback netcode patch has reached its final form for now, as the update has officially rolled out for everyone playing on Steam. The game also added lobby and replay functionality plus some other quality of life changes that can be found in the patch notes. Now is a great time to pick up Accent Core too since the fighter is only $3 right now. Arc System Works' announcement of the launch has been added to the original story below.

Guilty Gear Strive will serve as the first new entry in the franchise to include rollback netcode out of the box once it launches in 2021, but one of the older games has now beat it to the punch in terms of being first overall.

The limited-time open beta for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R's GGPO rollback netcode test is now available to try out on PC through Steam though there's a few steps you'll need to take to access it.

Inside of the Steam client, right click on your installed copy of Accent Core and select Properties.

From there, find the betas tab and opt into the choice listed as "publictest - GGPOupdatetest". Close the Properties tab and the game should update on its own to the newest version everyone is hopping online to try out right now.

"By popular demand, we have extended the current session of public test to last till 16th November, 2020!," reads the Steam page update. "Please note that there will not be any further extensions to this for development purposes."

Arc System Works is now joining SNK's work with Code Mystics in upgrading their older fighting game library to rollback netcode instead of the traditional delay-based connections for series like King of Fighters and The Last Blade.

Hopefully, this trend continues and shows us pretty much all of the major Japanese developers and publishers are paying attention to the quality of their online suites as we move towards the next generation of titles on the horizon.
