Arc System Works' upcoming fighting title Guilty Gear Strive will feature crossplay, but it will only apply to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions. A pre-purchase FAQ was released by the company that provides details on what you'll get with each version of the game and answers to other questions fans might be wondering about.

According to the information, players who own either the PS4 or PS5 versions of the game will be able to be matched up against each other online. Those on Steam or playing the arcade iterations will not be included in this crossplay.

"We are planning to implement cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions," the FAQ reads. "There will not be support for cross-play with the arcade and Steam versions."

Arc System Works does not explain why we won't be seeing crossplay for all platforms in the FAQ, but it is clear that grabbing the game on one of the Sony consoles has more benefits.

One added perk comes in the game's free upgrade. If you purchase Guilty Gear Strive on PlayStation 4, you will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for no extra charge.

If you purchase the digital-only version of the PlayStation 5 and your copy of Strive is a physical PS4 version, you won't be able to upgrade, though, due to the lack of a disc drive on the next-gen console. Digital purchases can upgraded on either PS5 model, however.

Downloadable content will also be transferrable between the PS4 and PS5 versions, says ArcSys. "It can be shared when using the same Sony Entertainment Network account (PlayStation Network account)," the company notes.

Guilty Gear Strive will have three different purchase options upon release: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. The Ultimate Edition will be the most packed with content and goodies and will run customers $99.99 USD, but unfortunately, this version will also not be available on Steam.

Strive is due out on April 9, 2021. Pre-orders are open now.
